After some years as an antiques dealer specialising in scientific and medical items, Fred Nickson spotted and successfully bid on a Victorian post box at an auction.
That marked the start of a move to specialising in post boxes of all shapes, sizes and ages. Small, delicate, and easy-to-store Georgian and Victorian medical instruments were joined by large and heavy boxes - a new storage problem!
In September 2016, Fred took the decision to retire from the post box business and handed the reins to Rachel Kempston.
Having run her own business for over 25 years, Rachel is now looking forward to the new challenge. Fred will not be disappearing - he'll be in the background helping Rachel, and offering his wealth of experience as Rachel takes the business forwards.
